My names is Patches, but my foster mon thinks I should be called, Miss Patches, because I am so regal and elegant. My life began rather unpleasant as I grew up in a house with a hoarder. When my person died my siblings and I were dumped on the side of a hill to fend for ourselves. We were lonely, hungry and very scared during that time. A rescuer came along and we thought things would get better, but they didn't. We were stacked in crates and lived in them until an angel came along. I now live in peace, comfort, warmth and safety where I am loved and cared for.
This rough start has caused me to be a little wary of people at first, but if you are kind and gentle I can be your very best friend. I will feel the most comfortable when you approach me at my level with a slow, hand and a gentle voice. I trust quickly and then watch me go! I love to play with catnip toys, ball toys, puff balls and fingers! When I am not playful I like to nap or hang out in a sunny window or anywhere near my people. My ideal home would be sunny, friendly and gentle. I currently live with an old blind and deaf dog that isn't interested in cats. I hiss a bit but have learned he isn't dangerous. I don't really trust cats much since my experiences have been scary. I think in time I could like other cats if they like me first. My foster mom is very protective of me and thinks I will be best in a home without young children since my past experience with humans was scary. I need people in my life to be predictable. I'm told I am very smart. I come running when you say, "here kitty kitty kitty"!
Please note: I screened positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus or FIV+. I have no symptoms and cats like me can live full, happy lives. FIV is difficult to transmit and FIV+ cats can usually live with other cats without spreading it. FIV has no effect on humans or any other animals other than cats. Because of this I must be an indoor kitty only. Going outside can hurt my immune system as well as endangering other cats.
