Joey is a special kitten looking for a special home. Missing some bones in his forelegs, his legs are shorter than normal and are bent instead of straight. Some call him a “squitten,” a kitten with short front legs that sits up on its haunches like a squirrel. Life for Joey has been different from the beginning. Unable to get himself into position to eat with his siblings, Joey was bottle-fed. This has contributed to Joey’s sweet personality and his love of people. Joey also has one small eye with less than perfect vision. What makes Joey so special is that no matter what life hands him, Joey takes it on and conquers it! Abnormal front legs? No problem- he just walks on his wrists! Decreased vision in his small eye? No problem- that’s why he has two!! Joey hasn’t let his condition slow him down. With a few accommodations, Joey can keep up with other kitties. He runs as fast as anyone- he just looks different doing it. He uses pet stairs to get up on the couch for naps. When he’s feeling playful, he doesn’t bother with the stairs coming down, but instead launches himself off the couch like the other kittens! Joey can frequently be seen up on his haunches surveying the scene. He sits like this, moving his head from side to side to gauge distance, then pounces! Joey is looking for the home that can meet his needs. He needs an indoor-only home that can provide him with things like pet stairs to keep him safe. He will need regular veterinary care to help him live his fullest, happiest life. Joey loves being around other kittens, in fact his perfect home will have a feline friend to play with. Joey is great with kids but hasn’t met a dog.
