Lyra is a social, quirky, playful lady cat looking for a quiet and patient home that will interact with her frequently. She loves to play with her humans and develops daily routines that she likes to keep consistent – such as engaging in playtime after meals. While she is very attuned to her people, often following us around the house, chirping at us to express her emotions, bringing toys in her mouth for us to play with her, and always wanting her way, she wants attention and love on her own terms. This means that sometimes, she will want to be picked up and held, whereas other times she does not want to be pet at all. She has never scratched or bit a human, but nonetheless needs a household who understands her changing needs.

Also, Lyra has shown to have some anxiety or depressive symptoms, which results in her often crying loudly at night. Her crying has decreased significantly with medication, establishing stable routines, and providing her regular attention. We are hopeful that in the right house, Lyra can feel comfortable and cared for, and the crying will go away. She has not cried consistently since being here, but several events in her life – such as falling very sick when pregnant and having to have her kittens taken away from her – resulted in the crying starting. This lovely lady has been through a lot in her short 1.5 years of life. We are hopeful that we can find the right household for Lyra to live out her days in ease, providing lots of love and attention to her humans while also being showered in it.

Lyra cannot live with a dog, but she has shown an ability to get along with other cats if they are not aggressive. It took her a month to be comfortable living with other cats, but now she grooms them, sleeps with them, and plays with them constantly.  LYRA is indoor only.  Her adoption fee is $125
