This is Clark. He's an a**hole to other felines. But loves his humans. Unfortunately, he apparently never learned to play well in the sandbox with others. We think he was pretty much a solitary cat most of his young life and had to fight for his territory as an outdoor cat. He would have been a foster failure otherwise, if it were different and got along with the other cats in the foster's home.
His humble beginnings were as a wayward bound homeless semi-feral. He was found at a mobile home park in Lebanon, eating out of the garbage. (And careful, he still likes to get in the garbage can, so keep it enclosed inside a cabinet or a tight lid on it. Also watch your own food, he will steal even chips and eat about anything. Even stuff non-eatable or shouldn't have. He seems to prefer human food to catfood.) Anyway, back to his humble beginnings...a concerned resident asked for our help because there was a huge intact male who fought with him. We trapped him and bought him into rescue and worked on his socialization that took only 5 weeks.
He is a very bright cat and he will follow commands like a dog. Or almost... His foster fell in love with him and didn't want to give him up. He is just so sweet to his human. He will head bump your hand as you go to pet him. You can even pick him up and carry him around like a rag doll. He will basically follow you around like a dog until he decides it is naptime. Again, like a dog, he is one of the first to greet you when you come home. And loves to sleep next to you in bed and typically on his back. His meow is hard to describe but very distinctive.
We believe he would be ideal for a first time cat owner who perceived themselves a dog person only, previously. Either way, he would be great in a one on one or couple or family relationship, no other pets. Despite his flaws, he is the best cat ever!
He was neutered in June 2022 along with getting his first set of vaccines. Also was tested for FelV and FIV and was negative for both. He has been dewormed and is flea treated, monthly. He will be microchipped when adopted. He renewed his Rabies shot 5/11/23 and is good for three years and also renewed his annual FVRCP (treats/prevents for distemper, herpes, & URIs) on 5/23/23. We are asking for a donation $170 for the adoption fee that comes with his medical records and delivered to your home for the meet and greet.
