Valentino is one very lucky cat to be still alive. He came into rescue when a local resident next to Waverley Park in Albany, Oregon posted on a blind cat that she spotted in their in the park for the first time. That is when we, the rescue, Cat Saves, moved into action to trap the cat and with the help of a little girl who helped locate him. We trapped him on Valentine's holiday night when temps were down in the low 20s, one of the coldest days of the season. He wouldn't have made it on his own another 24 hrs. He had double eye infections, a temp, severely dehydrated and was very underweight. Unfortunately we couldn't save one of the eyes, obviously. We had actually considered euthanasia at first, but his blood labs came back all good for liver and kidney function and negative for diabetes and testing negative for FIV and FelV. He was healthy except for a URI that went awry and affected his eyes. Thankfully a good generous Samaritan stepped in and sponsored him for his emergency vet needs to a whopping +1800 for all lab work and surgery. He had little fight in him, which helped us treat him during his rehab and he learned to trust humans again. He started out semi-feral. But now, he is the most grateful cat ever, who just wants to love on you. He will make a great lap cat once he gets to know his new owner. He is a very intelligent, brave, and independent cat and uses his other senses very well to get around. The vet and foster believe he has some sight. His only "flaw" is he likes to walk between your legs a lot because he loves rubbing against them. I don't recommend him to someone with balance issues like MS or elderly to prevent falls. Best thing to do when he follows you around like that is bend down to pet him then pick him up. It is important to let him smell your hands before touching him because sometimes he gets a little freaked out if he doesn't see your hands coming first for him - it's like he has a blindspot. He has little interest in any other cats except for another male who rehabbed with him at the same time. Actually the other cat is more interested in him and would be a good pairing if interested in a buddy for him. They are sweet on one another and like to play fight. Otherwise, it probably best that Valentino is an only cat as he doesn't associate with any other of the foster kitties. So please asked about his comrade, who has no special needs; just a little shy and still working on his socialization, but almost ready. We have no idea how Valentino would do with dogs. And supervised and educated on his mannerisms with older children should be no problem. He was neutered in March 2023 and also vaccinated with FVRCP & Rabies and dewormed and flea treated monthly. He will be microchipped upon adoption. We are asking for $180 donation in adoption fees. He will come with his complete medical records and delivered to your home for the meet and greet.

For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the foster parent for follow-ups and meeting arrangement.

Adoption fee Includes spay/neuter, microchip, worming and flea treatment, current vaccines, and negative FIV and FeLV test.

Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care.
