Shy but playful, welcoming yet cautious—that’s Serrano and Habanero in a nutshell. These sibling kittens started life as part of a feral colony in a Portland backyard. At just 3 months old, they were labeled “too old to tame,” but with patience, kindness, and a lot of Churu treats, they’ve shown just how much love they have to give.

At first, they were rascally, unsure, and quick to keep their distance. But little by little, they learned that humans can mean comfort, safety, and even pets and playtime. Today, they are still a touch shy when you first enter the room, but the swats are gone and their curiosity shines through. They now enjoy sitting nearby, playing, and being part of the action—on their own terms.

Serrano and Habanero are not feral, but they are still learning to fully trust. They thrive in a calm environment where they can continue to grow their confidence at their own pace. They enjoy quiet time, whether it’s you reading a book beside them or simply hanging out on the floor.

Their journey so far has been a rewarding one, and they are ready for the next step: finding a forever home with someone who sees their value and will continue nurturing their trust. If you have patience, a gentle heart, and maybe a few Churus on hand, these two will reward you with a special bond that’s worth every moment.  These beauties are indoor only and their adoption fee is $250.  They live in Hillsboro with their foster family.
