Shadow is a six-year-old neutered male cat who is searching for a calm, loving home after the loss of the only family he’s ever known. His beloved owner passed away in September, and since then, Shadow has been doing his best to adjust to a world that suddenly feels very different.

Shadow spent his entire life as the cherished companion of one quiet, devoted man. Their home was peaceful and predictable—filled with cozy routines, gentle companionship, and the occasional excitement of Oregon Ducks football and basketball games. Shadow was the only pet and had no exposure to other cats, dogs, or children.

After his owner’s passing, Shadow was taken in by a generous family friend, now 82 years old. While she opened her heart and home to him, she already has two resident cats—one elderly with health issues and another who was rescued as a feral. Unfortunately, Shadow is not comfortable sharing his space with other cats, and the situation has been stressful for everyone.

Currently, Shadow lives in a private bedroom, where his caregiver spends a couple of hours each day with him. Despite all this upheaval, Shadow remains incredibly affectionate. He is friendly, gentle, and deeply loving—rewarding companionship with big, happy purrs.

Once Shadow trusts you, his affection is truly special. He loves to sit nearby, quietly enjoying your presence. He melts under gentle pets (especially near his tail) and has the sweetest habit of softly smelling your face and rubbing foreheads, as if sharing a secret just between the two of you. He isn’t loud or demanding; his love is calm, steady, and deeply comforting.

Shadow has excellent indoor manners and is fully vaccinated and microchipped. He would do best in a quiet, adult-only home where he can be the only pet and feel safe, relaxed, and cherished again. He’s happiest gazing out a window, watching the world go by, simply content to be near his person  Shadow lives in Portland and his rehoming fee is $25.
