G’Kar (pro: jahKAR) is a big, sweet, affectionate boy, 10- years old, who has been a devoted companion through some of life’s hardest moments. He spent years by my father’s side during his battle with cancer, and he seemed to know exactly when he was needed—often walking into the room as if to announce my dad was awake and ready for company.

He may be a little shy at first, but give him a moment (and a good sniff), and he quickly warms up into a loving, snuggly companion. His favorite things include:  Curling up on your chest and giving gentle head bumps * Lounging in your lap while purring loudly * Napping in sunny spots * Chasing feather toys *  G'Kar is declawed on the front paws only.

G’Kar previously lived with a pug and learned to enjoy the company once she matured, though it’s unknown how he would do with larger dogs. He would likely do best in a calm, patient home that can give him time to adjust.

A couple years ago, G’Kar experienced a urinary blockage, but he’s been healthy and thriving ever since on a prescription diet (Hill’s Science Diet). He’ll need to stay on this food to keep him feeling his best.

Right now, he is safe, but his current caregiver won’t be able to look after him long-term. I’m hoping to find him a loving, attentive home where he can continue to be the cuddly, loyal companion he’s always been.  G'Kar lives in Salem with a family member and his rehoming fee is $25.
