Great Cats for Great Homes

  Have you always wanted a purebred Bengal Cat and couldn’t afford one? This pretty cat is a papered Golden Brown Rosette Bengal Cat whose registered name is Mint Julep. She has an interesting story. Originally she was purchased for $3500 and lived at a breeder’s. The breeder decided to close up shop so Ms.Julep was fixed and homed with Rachel, with whom she lived happily for 7 years. Rachel had a baby and this son began to torment Julep finally forcing Rachel to take her to her Aunt’s home in the country. The aunt had other cats that began to bully Julep so ran away. That is when we found her in the dead of winter and very thin – somehow this emaciated 16 year old Bengal Cat found her way up to our place on the side of a mountain. She had a microchip and we found her owner but because of the past abusive  environment it was determined that the cat should not go back to her.   At first Julep was pretty skittish but with every passing day she becomes more affectionate. She is cat box trained and has lived the majority of her life inside but she enjoys taking walks outside in the garden while she meows to herself. We let her in the house when we are around and she is beginning to sit on our laps and she LOVES her belly rubbed. In fact, it has become clear that she would really prefer to be with someone most of the day with regular scheduled petting – something we can’t give her because of our busy lifestyle. I think she would make a great cat for someone who stays home a lot and really wants an all-day companion. Miss Julep is a typical Bengal - very loud, quite demanding and makes funny noises. She gets along extremely well with both our 4 pound Yorkie Poo and both our larger hound dogs. She lived with another cat for  most of her life and she is not cat aggressive, but would not do well with other cats who might bully her. She takes a topical medicine for a thyroid condition that is easy to administer and eats wet cat food to protect her kidneys.  She has never scratched or been aggressive throughout her introduction to life in our home and I think the right person will really enjoy Mint Julep's quirky, needy, but affectionate self.
